Students of AlHikmah University, Ilorin are protesting against what they described as ‘Injustice And Unnecessary Extortion’ from the school authorities as they declare today, Monday, November 20th as ‘Lecture-Free’ day to protest the above.
This is coming after the Vice Chancellor of the institution insisted that all students must pay accommodation fees including those living outside the school hostels.
In a statement, he said the school was losing N37million yearly due to the fact that students prefer to stay outside the hostels.
Below is a statement passed around to students of the institution as regards the protest;
The great Alhikmites , I write to you all students of Alhikmah university in respect of the open petition letter that was written on the VC regarding the ultimatum . We have decided that tomorrow Monday 20/11/17 is gonna be a lecture free day for all students in other for the school management know that we “STUDENTS ” are serious in respect to the 50k payment for hostel fee. Pls and Pls we want all students to comply and let us not go to school on Monday . It’s going to be a 48hours peaceful protest which each student is expected to stay within his/her residence”.
