Nigeria’s premium beer brand, Star Lager beer, hosted Nigeria’s biggest viewing centre for fans of the English Premier League to watch the Arsenal-Manchester City, and Chelsea-Manchester United games over the weekend.
The English Premier League football fans in Abuja and its environs gathered at the Dreams Active Recreation Park, Wuse II Abuja, the venue of the Star Fan Park on Sunday 5 November, 2017 to see their favourite clubs slug it out against one another.
The winners and losers of the game proper were, at the end of the week’s outing at the venue, entertained.
Many of the football fans that were at the Star Fan Park extolled Star Lager for its thoughtfulness in setting up the park for football enthusiast.
“Yes, I knew it was going to be a close call but I was also convinced we would win the match. So, it is a pleasure my team won but my greatest pleasure came from the ambience of the Star Fan Park.
“It was as if I watched the match live from the Stanford Bridge Stadium, the venue of the game,” said Segun Adelanwa, a supporter of Chelsea F.C. that won its encounter with Manchester United F.C.
“We lost, yes; but the ambience of this Star Fan Park sort of lightens my loss as it gave me a sense of satisfaction as if I watched the match at the stadium where it was played,” said David Nwokoro, another viewer at the Fan Park.
Tokunbo Adodo, Portfolio Manager, National Premium, Nigerian Breweries Plc, expressed satisfaction at the turnout at the Park, which he attributed to the level of trust and confidence that football fans have for the Star Lager brand.
“We know how passionate Nigerians are about football and that is why we pulled this event off so our fellow football enthusiasts who may not be able to travel all the way to Europe to watch these fixtures live could have something that could be regarded as a close approximation to a stadium effect.
“Their turnout at this massive fan park is a testament of their belief in us. We share the excitement that these viewers expressed during the games and we are glad the park achieved its goals,” he enthused.
Adodo expressed the brand’s commitment to bringing the best footballing experience to millions of Star Lager Beer consumers and football fans across Nigeria at every opportunity.
